WWI Commemorative Silver Coin

$70.00

Only 1,000 of these medallions were minted.

In commemoration of the Great War, the Museum & Library has produced this limited-edition commemorative medallion available for purchase.
This one-ounce medallion is minted in .999 fine silver and is an official product of the World War One Centennial Commission.

The design is based on oil paintings by famous military painter James Dietz. The obverse side of the coin features an Army nurse, a doughboy, a soldier from the 370th Infantry Regiment (or the 369th if you are from New York), and a pilot. The 17 stars surrounding them indicate the entrance of the U.S. into WWI in 1917.
The reverse side of the medallion highlights the Navy’s epic role in transporting more than 2 million troops to the fighting fronts of WWI.
